Qally is the senior citizen of our herd. Foaled in 1986, she is one of the Lewis A. Payne bred horses, also known as the "Q-Horses".
Mostly Crabbet with some Ansata Ibn Halima crosses, 100% of her
lineage was imported as early as the forth generation. She is Certified 69.53% Crabbet/Blunt Breeding. Qally has a remarkable
heritage as illustrated in the publication, A Horse For Your Thoughts-Arabian Arrivals From The Old World, by Lewis A. Payne.
In his
quest to obtain the perfect foundation horses for his herd, Mr. Payne became a close friend of Lady Anne Lytton, daughter of
Lady Wentworth of the world-renowned Crabbet Stud in England. In the early 1960's, she guided him through the hand picking of a stallion, two mares
and a filly to import to America. After a long and turbulent journey on ships and trains, in crates and trailers, in storms and
finally in quarantine, these four horses held the prestige of being some of the first purebred Arabian horses to set foot in Oklahoma. Qally's
granddam was only six months old when she made this journey.
Lewis Payne spent the last 37 years of his life devoting himself to the preservation breeding
of these lines. After his death in 1998, his daughter Penny retained the horses her father loved. In the past few years
she reluctantly dispersed the herd to a few select individuals with the intention to continue her father's vision. Thanks to Tracy Vann of Vanguard Arabians, I am now the proud owner and guardian of Qally.
It is with great
respect to Mr. Payne and Penny, Qally will retire with us. She has proven to be an exceptional cross with our stallion Parada Elite and
is producing winning foals available for sale. -see Qamille on the Sales page-
